The mission of the FSIC AgTech Task Force is to bolster food security and local economies by promoting innovative, sustainable, and inclusive practices within the agriculture and AgTech industries. We aim to drive funding toward establishing greenhouses and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) structures in urban areas, focusing on underserved communities. We are dedicated to diversifying the industry by increasing the representation of minorities and other underserved individuals in agriculture and AgTech.
Our initiatives include demonstrating the socio-economic benefits of community-based food production, particularly in economically disadvantaged food deserts, through pilot projects. We also aim to underscore the value of indoor growing for sustainable community development and its role in addressing food security concerns. Furthermore, we are committed to advancing digital education for underserved individuals, providing them with the tools and skills to thrive in the AgTech industry.
Our commitment is to create resilient local food systems that provide nutritious, locally-sourced produce year-round, foster job creation, and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future in agriculture.
