First Programming event for AIOF

Tracey Harvey, one of the attendees, went on to start her own design business and has done work recently for a National political campaign
Tracey Harvey then started the Leading Ladies of Richmond – a group that supports primarily black women who want to start or expand a business – this group has the attention of the Governor of Virginia for their outstanding work in the Richmond, VA community
Jordan was recruited for the program by local members of the FSIC Network
The Program helped Jordan apply for a training program at Nash Community College, NC
AIOF provided:
Course application assistance
Tuition assistance
Assistance with gas money and transportation
Tutoring for the CDL Exam (commercial driver’s license)
Program staff helped set up interviews with Pike Electric
Jordan was hired and started working for Pike in Raleigh, NC
He is now a crew boss and makes over $40/hr. (over $80/hr for overtime)
In 2022 FSIC/AIOF applied for and received a grant of $305,000
AIOF worked with leaders in communities it supports to help families get access to free internet through the FCC’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
AIOF conducted dozens of events, informed over 60k individuals about the Program, and enrolled over 300 families
FSIC/AIOF Received a commendation from the FCC for their performance and use of grant funds
For five years FSIC has worked with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to advance economic opportunities for Black and minority Americans
There are usually two to four elected officials in attendance who discuss issues important to Black and minority communities
The event is attended by community leaders from around the U.S.
The event informs and educates these leaders on issues that will affect their communities and how to advocate for better economic outcomes for families living there
